Vancouver alt-rock favourites Fake Shark have arrived just in time with their new single, “Bummer Summer” via Light Organ Records. Written from the perspective of mulling over the consequences to one’s own action, the anthemic new release is anything but a bummer to the ears of fans. Listen to the song now below.
On the new release, Fake Shark share, “Bummer Summer is a song about people who burn lots of bridges thinking there will be no repercussions for their actions and then feel sorry for themselves. I wrote it from the perspective of someone who hurts everyone around them and then is surprised to find themselves alone while everyone else is enjoying themselves and it was their own fault. It was fun to think so sarcastically and put myself in their shoes.”
Fake Shark kicked off the year with the release of alt banger “Save Me,” which overflows with the band’s hallmark blend of bright buoyant pop and hooky alt rock. The track soared up the radio charts, hitting #1 on the Breaking Alt chart, and landed in the Top 30 on the Rock charts.
With over 4 million streams to their name and 2 million views on YouTube, it’s easy to see why Fake Shark have been quote as “one of Canada’s best bands,” (Outland Culture).
