    Look Alive – Translucent

    Look Alive Translucent

    Review by Amaya Del Rio

Look Alive, a five-piece who formed in 2012, have received quite a bit of praise since the release of their debut album Mistakes & Milestones in 2013. Not only does their next EP, Translucent, have kickass song titles, it also has amazing guitar riffs and strong vocals.

Although there are only four songs on the new EP, set to drop on October 21st, you can tell that Look Alive focused all of their energy on these few songs so they would come out as brilliant as possible. With song titles that could be compared to that of old-school Fall Out Boy and vocals that occasionally sound similar to Relient K, this band has a lot going for them and this EP is a stellar example of the hard work they’ve put in over the last two years since their formation. Frequently compared to The Story So Far, you can definitely see the similarities in the opening track, “Putting the ‘I’ in Isolation” with the fast-paced vocals and strong power chords.

My only complaint with this record would have to be that the volume of the vocals could definitely stand to be turned up in a few of the songs. Unfortunately, Look Alive aren’t planning on touring anytime soon, so you may have to wait a bit before seeing them in Denver, but this EP will probably keep you satisfied until then!
