Review by Dom Vigil
Although it is only three songs in length, Hurry’s new EP, Casual Feelings wastes no time transporting you into their world. Soothing guitar work, mellow bass and soft, easygoing vocals set the tone right away on the title track, making it easy to get lost in these songs before they’re over in the blink of an eye.
These three songs will easily hold fans over until Hurry’s next release, but the downside of such a short EP is, just as it really starts to gain momentum, it’s over. “Casual Feelings” is a strong, catchy opener, but it leaves you wanting more, and the following song, “All Night,” while carried by strong guitar and drum work, changes the pace before you can get the hang of it. The plus side here though, is that it will surely leave fans eager for more.
Where “All Night” and “Casual Feelings” are rather poppy and upbeat, the third and final song, “Guided Meditation” is mellow and emotional, the main focus on the vocals and lyrics as Matthew Scottoline bears all. The raw, live sounding instrumentals only make the song more powerful, and by the time it fades out, you’ll want to listen to it all over again.
