    Budjerah – Conversations

    By Dom VigilApril 8, 2022
    Budjerah Conversations

20-year-old Australian artist Budjerah is becoming even more comfortable in his own skin with his second EP, Conversations. The seven song release finds him expanding even more on his signature soul/retro R&B sound in a way that’ll have you hitting play all over again by the time it comes to an end. Bookended by the bright and summery “Get Down” and the spectacular, confident finale, “My Name,” Conversations is made up of some of his best work yet.

The lush “Get Down” flows easily into “What Should I Do?”, which is carried by a groovy bass line and longing vocals. Meanwhile, the EP’s high points come in the more emotional tracks, like the ballad, “Wash My Sorrows Away,” and “Talk,” which finds Budjerah exploring the lesser talked about intimate moments of a relationship when you really open yourself up to someone, alongside stunning guest vocals from MAY-A. The beautifully produced album feels comfortable and easy to listen to, allowing Budjerah’s heart-wrenching vocals to truly shine. Conversations truly feels like an effortless release from Budjerah, and by the time he’s proclaiming, “They gonna know my name” on the final track, it’s easy to believe.
