303 day is coming up on March 3rd, which gives local music lovers the perfect excuse to celebrate some of the great talent that comes from Denver and the surrounding areas, but the local love should not just be confined to one day. Instead of only spending the 3rd acknowledging some of Colorado’s best artists, we’ll be celebrating them all month long at The Prelude Press. To kick things off, we’ve rounded up some of our most anticipated local shows in March, starting on 303 day and going through the entire month!
There are well over ten local shows in Denver this month, though. Did we miss some of your favorite artists? Which shows are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments and keep spreading the local love!
3/3 – 888, Redlands & Iolite @ The Marquis Theater
What better way to kick off a month’s worth of killer local shows than catching Denver’s own rising act, 888 at The Marquis? 2016 was one hell of a year for these local veterans who released their debut EP, Critical Mistakes shortly after signing with Island Records, and this small show marks their first hometown performance of the new year.
Opening up the show and keeping the night’s lineup diverse are Denver alternative rock band Redlands and up-and-coming pop artist Iolite. Both Redlands and Iolite were chosen to perform at 2016’s hometown for the holidays, with Iolite coming in the top 3 and Redlands taking home the win! March 3rd will also mark the release of Iolite’s new music video for her single, “Bloodstream.” Needless to say, this is one show you don’t want to miss.
3/3 – One Flew West, CITRA & Overslept @ Lost Lake Lounge
Not in the mood for hitting up The Marquis on 303 day? That’s okay! Lost Lake is hosting a stacked show on the 3rd as well with One Flew West, CITRA and Overslept performing. Not only will One Flew West be headlining Lost Lake on the 3rd (with another headlining show at The Downtown Artery in Fort Collins on the 4th) but they will also be releasing two new singles on the same day.
Still need some convincing? CITRA just recently celebrated the release of their music video for high energy single, “Air,” and Overslept have been going non-stop since the beginning of the year when they kicked off a run of tour dates alongside fellow locals Silver and Gold. We will be surprised if this intimate show doesn’t sell out fast, so grab tickets while you still can!
3/4 – IAMTHESHOTGUN, Doomsday for the Destroyer, Daydream, Conquer Everest & Iridium @ Moon Room
What if you’re in the mood for something a little heavier? Thankfully, the Colorado metal scene is alive and stronger than ever, and IAMTHESHOTGUN‘s headlining show at the Moon Room on March 4th is proof of that. With a massive lineup consisting of supporting artists Doomsday for the Destroyer, Daydream, Conquer Everest and Iridium, it’ll honestly be a miracle if the Moon Room makes it through this show. If you’ve ever caught a metal show (or any sort of packed show for that matter) here, then you know just how wild it can get. With so much energy crammed into a small space, this will be one show you don’t want to miss.
3/8 – Postcards, Maddie’s Changed, Bedford Falls & Rain in July @ Moon Room
As long as IAMTHESHOTGUN and friends don’t completely destroy the Moon Room, you’re going to want to catch Postcards‘ headlining set at the venue a few days later. The Denver pop-punk band had one busy 2016 with the release of their new album, My Departure alongside countless hometown shows and a few west coast runs. This will mark the band’s first show of 2017 and they’re bringing with them local rising acts Maddie’s Changed, Bedford Falls and Rain in July.
2017 promises to be a big year for these supporting artists as well. While Maddie’s Changed just released an acoustic version of their song, “Chaser,” fellow pop-punk band Bedford Falls have already been performing non-stop throughout January and February. For those who haven’t heard of them yet, show up early for Rain in July – this is one local band you’re going to want to know this year!
3/9 – For The Love of Locals Featuring Rumours Follow, Kayla Marque, Hellgramites, GALLERIES & The Host Club @ The Marquis Theater
If you want to shake things up a bit, look no further. Denver new wave/alternative band Rumours Follow are veterans of the Colorado music scene and certainly know how to show concert-goers a good time. Not only that, but this stacked lineup is about as diverse as it can get, with singer/songwriter Kayla Marque serving as direct support and Hellgramites GALLERIES and The Host Club opening the show. To top things off, The Host Club will be kicking things off with an acoustic set!
3/9 – Chloe Tang, Wildermiss, Evinair & Left Hand Shakes @ Hi Dive
Powerhouse singer Chloe Tang is just about to release her debut EP on March 6th and will be playing a stacked EP release show on March 9th at the Hi-Dive. Not only is Chloe’s emotionally driven unique brand of indie-rock something to keep an eye on in the coming months, but she’s also bringing with her a perfect lineup of local artists including Wildermiss, Evinair and Left Hand Shakes. If you’ve been searching for some of Denver’s best indie-rock artists, look no further (and come out to this show!)
3/10 – Slow Caves, Oko Tygra, The Outfit & Bitter Suns @ Lost Lake
One of the best things about the Colorado music scene is just when you think you’ve heard them all, a new band comes along, shakes things up and gets your attention. Last year, that band was rising Fort Collins band Slow Caves, and this time around, they’re celebrating their EP release at Lost Lake and bringing with them a bunch of other stellar local bands that I personally hadn’t even heard of until now. Serving as direct support is standout wave pop band, OKO TYGRA, and opening the show are Denver rockers The Outfit and landlocked surf band, Bitter Suns.
Not only are Slow Caves one of Denver’s rising stars, but they’re showcasing some great new talent at this upcoming EP release show.
3/17 – False Report, Loretta Kill, The Beeves & Dramad @ The Marquis Theater
Denver indie/pop-punk band False Report recently released their new EP, Collapse and will be celebrating with and EP release show on March 17th. These guys started off 2017 with a bang and have been going non-stop, most recently opening up for Waterparks and Too Close To Touch on February 21st, and they’re bringing Loretta Kill, The Beeves and Dramad for a stellar local lineup!
3/18 – Montoneros, Overslept, Instant Empire & Wrinkle @ Larimer Lounge
Montoneros are easily one of Denver’s best kept secrets (or hopefully they’re not a secret if you’ve been paying close attention to the local scene) and on March 18th, they’ll be celebrating the release of their new EP (out 3/17) at Larimer Lounge. The indie/math rock group will surely shake things up and give you something new to listen to if you’ve never heard of them before, and if you have, then you know that they’ve got a great show in store!
Playing with Montoneros are Overslept, dream punk band Instant Empire (who are currently working on a new album) and Wrinkle.
3/24 – Tonight We Rise, The Anchor, Earth Groans, The Coast Is Ours, The Burial Plot & Victim Culture @ Summit Music Hall
Easily one of the most diverse shows coming up in March is Tonight We Rise‘s headlining show at Summit Music Hall on March 24th. For local scene veterans, it’ll bring them back to the days of catching mixed bills at The Shelter or Lifespot “back in the day” and for everyone else, it’ll be a night of high energy, diverse music that will hopefully give them something new to listen to. Rockers Tonight We Rise will be joined by melodic metalcore band, The Anchor, hardcore/metal band Earth Groans (the only non-local band on this list, but we’ll give them a pass since they’re part of such a great lineup) pop-punkers, The Coast Is Ours and the chaotic Victim Culture and The Burial Plot.
