New Found Glory has been around for 20 years and to celebrate their success, they are performing six of their albums in their entirety during their current US tour. This Monday started a three-night run for Florida natives New Found Glory and brits Trash Boat at Denver’s Marquis Theater.
Trash Boat started their set with a few heavy hitters. Only three songs in, lead singer Tobi Duncan downed a bottle of water, saying his tour manager told him the elevation really makes a difference. He then gathered his breath and asked the crowd to keep up with him while he played another 20 minutes of rock. This was their first US visit and it’s safe to say that they will be back.
New Found Glory then kicked off the night with their smash hit “Understatement,” which had the crowd going wild. The Marquis Theater does not have a barricade, and only minutes into the set, the crowd-surfers were going up and onto the stage before jumping back into the crowd. The band dove into Sticks and Stones, one of their most well known albums, and the sold-out crowd sang every word of it. Vocalist Jordan Pundik even let some of the fans who were lucky enough to grab front row sing a line or two.
As the night progressed, the band began to play songs that they have never played on tour. One of my personal favorites was “Sonny,” and the band even prefaced this song by saying, “We didn’t think anyone was going to like this song when we released it”. New Found Glory rocked each and every song through the two albums, Coming Home and Sticks and Stones. By the end of the night, they were very excited to call Denver their home for the next three days, and closed the night with their single, “My Friends Over You,” and I have never seen The Marquis get so rowdy.
