Ring in the new year the right way with some great shows this January! Although December can be pretty slow when it comes to music (except for a few holiday shows here and there) there are already a ton of great artists, both local and national, playing in Denver to kick off 2018. Whether you feel like staying warm with more than a few like-minded individuals for St. Vincent at The Fillmore or the massive Punk Against Trump show at Summit Music Hall, or would rather catch a more intimate show like Kali Masi at 7th Circle or Take Shape at Larimer Lounge, there’s certainly a wide variety of shows in Denver this month to suit your every need.
Make it your New Year’s resolution to catch some of these shows and get to know a few new artists!
As always, let us know which shows you’re excited to see this month in the comments! Who should we check out in this month? Let us know!
1/12 – Take Shape @ Larimer Lounge
What better way to start off the new year than with four great local artists at one of Denver’s most intimate venues? Denver emotive rock band, Take Shape ended 2017 on a high note with the release of the music video for their brand new song, “Gain,” and are starting 2018 off with a bang with this upcoming show. Support for the night is Redivider, Places Back Home and The Leshen.
1/13 – Redlands @ The Marquis Theater
Some of the best performances of 2017 were brought to us by local artists like Redlands, CITRA, The Hollow and Water Aerobics, so it only makes sense that the four have teamed up for what promises to be one hell of a show at The Marquis on the 13th!
1/15 – St. Vincent @ The Fillmore Auditorium
A St. Vincent show is simply a one of a kind performance, and her upcoming stop at The Fillmore will be the perfect way to warm up on a chilly January night.
1/19 – Screwtape @ Larimer Lounge
If you’ve already heard the buzz about Denver hardcore band Screwtape, then you know why you need to make it out to this show. If you haven’t, then just imagine one of the wildest shows you’ve seen at Larimer Lounge and simply amplify it. These guys are sure to remind you why you love our local hardcore/punk scene.
1/20 – Punk Against Trump @ Summit Music Hall
Punk Against Trump is easily one of the most stacked lineups of the year so far. With a massive lineup of both local and national acts, this is sure to be one of the best shows of the month. This one kicks off early at 3:00pm, which means you’re in for at least seven or eight hours of good old punk music from Anti-Flag, Stray From The Path, The White Noise, Sharptooth, Line Brawl, Over Time, Cheap Perfume, Allout Helter, The New Narrative & Rotten Reputation. At only $20 ($22 at the door) you’re definitely getting your money’s worth.
1/22 – Passion Pit @ The Ogden Theatre
Passion Pit released quite possibly one of the most unique albums of 2017 with Tremendous Sea Of Love in July, and now they’ll finally be hitting the stage in Denver at The Ogden Theatre. With a live presence that is sure to amplify the stunning soundscapes on the new album, this show is a must-see.
1/23 – Kali Masi @ 7th Circle Music Collective
Kali Masi recently celebrated the release of their new album, Wind Instrument in October of 2017, and with tour dates planned throughout January, these guys are bound to grow even more in 2018. With a sound similar to artists like The Menzingers and I Am The Avalanche, 7th Circle is the perfect setting for this show that you don’t want to miss.

1/25 – One Flew West @ The Bluebird Theatre
Another local favorite, One Flew West is kicking off their 2018 with a headlining show at The Bluebird in celebration of their new EP, Trial & Error, out the same day. The band is also bringing along a stacked lineup of other locals, Compass & Cavern, VYNYL and Silver & Gold
1/26 – Silverstein & Tonight Alive @ Summit Music Hall
Easily one of the most diverse lineups of the month is Silverstein & Tonight Alive’s upcoming co-headliner at Summit Music Hall. If those two bands aren’t enough, they’re also bringing Broadside and Picturesque along for the ride.
1/29 – August Burns Red @ Summit Music Hall
If you were at August Burns Red’s headliner at The Ogden last January, then you know that the perfect way to ring in the new year is seeing these metal titans live. This time around, the band will be playing new songs from their recently released album, Phantom Anthem.
