Story by Dom Vigil
Emo Nite has been constantly growing and gaining momentum since 2016, when they hosted their very first Denver event The Marquis Theater. Back home in LA, that growth has meant collaborations with iconic local artists, exclusive merch, exciting pop-up events, a physical Ride Or Cry storefront, podcasts and (of course) larger than life monthly events featuring massive guests like Demi Lovato, The Used, Machine Gun Kelly which even saw the reunion of From First To Last. Meanwhile in Denver, each event, which usually comes every couple of months, has been selling out time and time again. Nothing stops Emo Nite in Denver – not snow or rain or even an emotional election night – and that’s kind of the best thing about it. If you’ve ever taken a moment to just stand at the back of The Marquis Theater and watch as everyone sings their hearts out to “Welcome To The Black Parade” or “Best Of Me,” or have been one of the last people standing on stage with your arm around a stranger at 2:00am, then I’m sure you understand what I’m talking about.
With this growth, it comes as no surprise that nearly every single Emo Nite event in Denver since the end of 2016 has either sold out or come very close to doing so. The last three events sold out before doors even opened, enacting a one in, one out policy at The Marquis Theater, which was still so packed that you could barely move, especially near the bar (go figure). At the most recent event, which took place on Wednesday, March 28th, The Marquis filled up faster than ever before. Normally, fans begin trickling in around 9:00pm, while the party doesn’t really get started until 10:00, but only a few minutes after doors opened, the floor of the venue began to fill out and it quickly became obvious that it might be the rowdiest Emo Nite in Denver so far – and yes, that includes the time there was a proposal on-stage and when 3OH!3 came to visit last August.
Sure enough, the party raged well into the night this time around. And while nothing is better than singing along to some of your favorite songs with your best friends in a tiny, sweaty, over-packed venue, it isn’t a surprise that the next Emo Nite will be taking place at the much larger Summit Music Hall this June. On the Facebook event page alone for last week’s show at The Marquis, over 800 people RSVP’d as “interested” for a venue with a capacity of barely 300. Nearly all night, there was a line out the door of excited (and cold) fans, waiting to get inside and see what it was all about, and now, those who missed out have a chance to see a bigger, better (and more badass) version of Emo Nite in Denver.
As someone who has attended every single Emo Nite in Colorado, and even one out of state, mark my words: you’re not going to want to miss Emo Nite at Summit Music Hall. With even more space for fun, sing-alongs and (hopefully) some special guests, the next Emo Nite promises to be one to remember.
Grab tickets to Emo Nite at Summit Music Hall on June 2nd HERE. $10 Earlyboy tickets are already sold-out, but $15 tickets are still available for a limited time!
