One of the best things about living in Colorado is that there’s always something to do, and this is definitely thanks to our thriving music scene. On any given night, you’re sure to find a live band playing anywhere across the state, whether it’s at the intimate Lost Lake in Denver or Colorado Springs’ The Black Sheep. This month is no exception, as it seems that there is a great show happening almost every other night. If you’re having trouble choosing which ones to check out in May, we’ve got you covered, from local musicians to breakout artists playing some of Denver’s best venues.
If pop is your thing, then you can kick off the month of May with Denver’s own Chloe Tang at Larimer Lounge or catch Smallpools and Great Good Fine OK at The Marquis Theater later this month! Looking for a good hardcore show? How about a two day festival? Make the trek down to Colorado Springs for Springs Slam II, featuring over a dozen artists playing at The Black Sheep. Whether you’re remembering why you first fell in love with pop-punk with Sum 41 at The Ogden or discovering a new favorite band at Belmont‘s show this month, there’s no shortage of diverse shows in Colorado this May. 5/4 – Chloe Tang @ Larimer Lounge
Denver alternative pop darling Chloe Tang is poised to break out with her upcoming EP, and what better way to celebrate it than with a release show at the intimate Larimer Lounge? By blending elements of hip-hop, pop, electronic and even indie-rock, Chloe Tang proves that there’s nothing she can’t do, and her upcoming show promises to be just as exciting as her music
5/8 – Bishop Briggs @ The Ogden Theatre
Bishop Briggs recently celebrated the release of her massive new album, Church Of Scars and will be hitting The Ogden Theatre for a headlining show in support of it this month. Considering how quickly she has been growing, it’ll be no surprise if this is the last time she plays a venue this size in Colorado again.
5/12 – Charly Bliss @ The Black Sheep
If you’re looking for a good excuse to head to Colorado Springs this month, we’ve got a few great shows for you to check out, and the first is Charly Bliss at The Black Sheep. The Brooklyn power pop band is sure to provide the perfect soundtrack to some warmer weather, and the lineup for this show is incredible, with Skating Polly and Colorado’s own Pout House opening.
5/12 – The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die & Pianos Become The Teeth @ Larimer Lounge
If you’ve been to a show at Larimer Lounge, then you know it’s the perfect setting for a lineup consisting of The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die, Pianos Become The Teeth and Queen Of Jeans. With a stellar lineup and intimate venue, this show is going to be one to remember.
5/14 – Smallpools & Great Good Fine OK @ The Marquis Theater
Maybe you just want to dance, let loose and have a good time. If that’s the case, then you need to check out Smallpools and Great Good Fine OK’s co-headlining show at The Marquis Theater this month! The aptly named “Spring Is Sprung” tour promises to be an energetic night from start to finish. In fact, it’s hard to imagine Smallpools and Great Good Fine OK fitting their spectacular live shows into such a small venue. Add Half The Animal as the opener, and you’ve got an incredible show from start to finish.
5/16 – Belmont @ The Moon Room
If you missed New York pop-punk band Young Culture when they came through Colorado back in February, you have another chance to catch them this month at the intimate Moon Room at Summit Music Hall. Young Culture are supporting Chicago’s Belmont for a show that promises to be energetic from start to finish. If you’re searching some promising up and comers in the pop-punk scene, look no further!
5/18 – The Struts @ The Ogden Theatre
Do we really have to convince you to go see The Struts? With a classic rock n’ roll swagger, a killer live show, and a timeless sound all their own, The Struts are simply one of a kind, and a band that needs to be seen live. With Denver locals Viretta opening the show, this one is going to be entertaining from start to finish.
5/19 – Rumours Follow @ Lost Lake
Celebrate Rumours Follow’s single release at Lost Lake with one hell of a local lineup! On top of the entertaining and energetic headliners, Benjamin Cartel and fellow local artists VYNYL and Foxfield Four will be playing, promising an incredibly fun night.
5/19 & 5/20 – Springs Slam II @ The Black Sheep
Springs Slam is returning for two full days of hardcore this month, and with over a dozen bands playing over the course of two days, it’s a weekend you’re not going to want to miss. Artists playing include Orthodox, Joy, Purgatory, Cross Me, Fortune’s Fool, Lonely Bones and Faim. Check out the entire lineup HERE.

5/21 – Sum 41 @ The Ogden Theatre
Sum 41 will be bringing their Does This Look Infected tour to Denver this month alongside Seaway and Super Whatevr. Not only is Sum 41 known for their high-energy live shows, but this upcoming tour is going to be a special one for the band, who are celebrating the 15th anniversary of their 2002 release. This show is sure to sell out, so grab tickets while they last.
5/26 & 5/27 – The Fever 333 @ The Black Sheep & The Moon Room
The Fever 333 is more than just a band, they’re a movement. The trio, comprised of vocalist Jason Aalon Butler [ex-letlive.], drummer Aric Improta [Night Verses], and guitarist Stephen Harrison [ex-the Chariot] have been using their platform to start conversations among listeners and ignite a change not only throughout the music scene, but the country as a whole. With two shows planned in the state this month, it’s safe to say that The Fever 333 will be leaving their mark on Colorado. Will you be there?

5/30 – The Wonder Years @ The Ogden Theatre
The Wonder Years just celebrated the release of their powerful new album, Sister Cities and will finally be returning to Denver for the first time since 2016 this month. Their upcoming headlining tour promises to be one of their best yet, with Tigers Jaw, Tiny Moving Parts and Worriers opening.
