The 1975 were simply made to play venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Three years ago, when they first played Denver at the significantly smaller Marquis Theater, it was obvious that the band was destined for great things, and on May 2nd, as they performed for a nearly sold out crowd at the iconic venue in Morrison, Colorado, it felt simply perfect.

Gin Wigmore’s Willing To Die Tour is not one to be missed. Though it only consists of two artists – Wigmore and her band, and Chicago’s Matthew Santos – when the tour came through Denver on April 23rd, the night was flawless from start to finish. When arriving at the venue, I was more than pleased to see a line stretching down the block, as it was my first time seeing Gin Wigmore live, and I wasn’t certain what sort of crowd to expect. As soon as the show started, it was plain as day why The Marquis Theater was close to selling out.
In between Coachella appearances, The Front Bottoms hit The Observatory North Park in San Diego bringing along Sun Valley Gun Club, Diet Cig, and Brick + Mortar for a high energy show.
The Darkness’ Back to the USSA tour is underway friends! The band stopped by the House of Blues in San Diego with Alexa Villa and RavenEye and put on a clinic of a show.
When Underoath announced their comeback tour, aptly titled the “Rebirth Tour” in August of last year, there was no doubt that their Denver stop at The Ogden Theatre would sell out in no time. And sure enough, the venue was packed full of excited, sweaty and emotional Underoath fans on a Sunday night, nearly eight months later, all anxious to see their favorite band take the stage once more. When the band embarked on their farewell tour in 2013, there was unfortunately no Colorado date, so it was no surprise that fans were more than eager to see them again, and the energy in the room was absolutely incredible.
I can’t even begin to count just how many bands I’ve seen live, but without a doubt, The Wild Feathers blow them all out of the water. Having just released their new album, Lonely Is A Lifetime, the Nashville group brought their show to Denver on Monday, to a very enthusiastic and fun-loving crowd of all ages. While the crowd was rather mellow at the start of the night, nearly everyone was dancing by the end, from the youngest fan, Clementine (who the band was sure to give a shout-out to) to their older die-hards. The Bluebird was full of smiles as soon as The Wild Feathers took the stage, and with good reason.
We’ve taken it upon ourselves to comb this year’s Warped Tour lineup for some of the best new artists to check out at your date this summer. From ska and pop-punk all the way to metal and even synthpop, there is no shortage of incredible breakout artists to see this year, but we’ve narrowed it down to our ten most unique and diverse favorites.
Saturday night saw another packed house at The Observatory North Park in San Diego. With Mrs. Magician, AJJ – formerly Andrew Jackson Jihad – and Joyce Manor on the bill, San Diegans knew they were in for a treat. Which totally explains the line that wrapped around the entire block of folks waiting to get inside.
It’s not every night you get to see a solid punk rock show at a venue like The Observatory North Park. But When Anti-Flag brings along Leftöver Crack, War On Women, Blackbird Raum, and The Homeless Gospel Choir to San Diego, Friday night becomes Punk Night at The Observatory.
We sat in the studio with Carson Allen while he worked on his upcoming new EP. Check out photos and a story about the experience!
