Earlier this month, Tove Lo embarked on her North American Dirt Femme tour, with stops in Nashville, Queens, Philadelphia and Toronto, but just as quickly as her run kicked off, it was brought to a stop and forced the cancellation of three shows due to an unexpected illness. After being forced to make the decision to reschedule shows in Chicago, Detroit and St. Paul, the iconic Swedish artist was finally on the mend and set to hit the stage for an excited, sold-out Denver crowd. And it’s safe to say that she was worth waiting for.
The venue was packed with fans in intricate, colorful outfits, clearly inspired by Tove Lo herself from the moment that doors opened on Monday night. With many fans even traveling from out of state (a few die-hards in the front row mentioned that they tried to catch both her Chicago and Detroit shows before deciding to drive to Denver to see her), it was safe to say that the night was going to be an exciting one. Opening the show was pop artist, Slayyyter, who commanded the stage in lace lingerie, encouraging fans to dance, sing and let loose. Effortlessly setting the tone for the night with self-proclaimed songs about sex and partying, Slayyyter was a perfectly-billed opener for the show and did a great job of hyping the crowd up for the main event.
When the lights finally went down, fans began excitedly chanting and screaming for Tove Lo, and it was safe to say from the smile that rarely left her face throughout her entire performance, she was ecstatic to be back on stage once more. For someone who clearly just spent the better part of the week recovering from illness (and returning in a state notorious for being rough on artists due to the altitude), Tove Lo’s performance didn’t suffer one bit. Kicking off the night with “Pineapple Slice”, “Attention Whore” and “Cool Girl”, Tove Lo was back with a vengeance, clearly determined to make up for lost time with a spectacular performance.
The night was littered with fan favorites and hits, such as the infamous “Talking Body” and “disco tits.” Many new songs from her 2022 album, Dirt Femme, made their debut as well, notably “True Romance,” which found Tove Lo winding things down for a more intimate and emotional performance, as well as her latest single, “Borderline.” Throughout her performance, Tove Lo dazzled the crowd with her vocal prowess as well as multiple wardrobe changes and a dreamy production that will leave fans reminiscing on the show for some time to come. With a whole spring and summer’s worth of shows coming up, Tove Lo is just getting started this year, and it’s safe to say that this is one performance you don’t want to miss.
