Famed country music royalty, Shania Twain electrified Ball Arena at her performance in Denver CO, on May 21st 2023. Starting off to no disappointment to the fans, she sang her first song, “Waking Up Dreaming”, fully immersed in the crowd. She was propelled through the front rows of the audience as enamored fans scrambled to take a picture with her in clear view. As she made her way on stage, she belted out several more popular tracks with an impressive rocket ship into space background that was nearly as massive as the arena itself.
The ecstatic audience, adorned with brightly lit cowboy hats and cell phones in hand, belted out nearly every word along side the famed Canadian superstar. As the impressive backdrop changed into a Saloon, complete with cows and even a little alien guy running around, Shania took moments throughout each of her songs to showcase her bandmates and duo of backup singers as each came forward to show off their skills.
This was definitely a performance geared towards the fans, and not to the extent of shouting “Hello Cleveland!”, or other small banter in between songs. The evening held numerous special surprises for a handful of fans, adorned with special VIP lanyards, as they were brought onto the actual stage to watch Shania perform a song in their midst. Afterwards she even took a quick a couple of minutes to personally take a photo with each of them. This was definitely more heartfelt than it was a distraction to the show itself. After a few more songs, she even read a Tweet from someone in attendance at the show, and found them in their seat. After some coaxing, “Patrick The Bartender” was brought on stage for a quick bout of rhetoric. He proclaimed his fandom, and requested to hear “Ka-Ching!”, which she proceeded to belt out a few impromptu verses a cappella to fulfill the excited young man’s request.
Shania ended her main set with the title track to her newest album Queen Of Me, which was released in February. It was accompanied with a video performance on the giant backdrop that featured all of the current tour musicians, which was a nice touch. After a short recess, she burst back on the stage to give the enamored fans what they had been patiently waiting for the entire evening. Closing the set with “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” the front row fans simultaneously erupted into an exuberant singalong, which seemed to be a perfect end to a magical evening.
