Georgia’s Hero The Band are celebrating the release of their new album, Bleach, and with good reason. The sixteen songs center around love and self-appreciation and the many ways that you can find it. With such a positive and uplifting release, these four siblings have quite a bit to look forward to in 2016.
Interview by Shannon Shumaker
Can you tell us a little bit about yourselves for any of our readers who may not be familiar?
Hello, we are Hero The Band from Decatur GA made up four blood brothers.
Did you guys come from a musical family? What made you first want to start playing music and when did you realize it was something you wanted the pursue seriously?
Yes, we come from a very musical family. Both our mom and dad, so all sides of our family sing and/or play instruments. Car rides with mom and dad to church listening to various artist made us first want to start playing music. It wasn’t until watching the Beatles Anthology that we wanted to pursue being a band seriously.
What are the pros of being in a band with your siblings?
We have a mutual understanding and harmonious vibe that connects us as one mind. Being that every one of us are strong individually, it’s when we come together we become mad scientists of music. Each brother is inspired by a wide range of music as well as life overall.
How do you feel being based out of Atlanta has affected your music and your attitude toward the music scene?
Being That we are Atliens doing what one calls rock music has really put us in a lane of our own being that it is the “Rap Capital”. Our attitude towards the music has remained the same since we have started this journey which is super positive and up beat! More kids and more of our peers are starting to pick up instruments now wanting to tap into another side of their creativity.
You guys just released your new album, Bleach, and I understand it revolves around self-love. Can you tell us a little bit about the message behind the album?
The message for Bleach is all about the cleanse of the mind, body and soul. It does start with cleansing self to love yourself. Loving yourself allows you to love everything and everyone around you. It’s an emotional roller coaster that opens one’s spirit to re-connect with the inner child inside.
What advice would you give to someone who is trying to better themselves or “self-love” a little bit more?
The best advice we can give to anyone would be to always be honest with self. Never be afraid to be different in a crowd that’s a painted illusion. Meaning you are born different just as they are, even when it seems everyone is the same. Laugh a lot and never take life too serious. Just be you.
Are there any songs on the album that you’re particularly proud of and excited for listeners to hear?
We are excited for listeners to hear the entire album being that there was so much love put into it. Secondly, you can’t get the full Bleach cleanse unless you sit and listen to every song on the album.
How would you like Bleach to impact your listeners?
We would like Bleach to allow people to free themselves from any negative situation that they might be going through. We would like Bleach to curate love in the hearts and minds of the people. Giving the people a sense of belief in self and that everybody is worth it.
With Bleach out now, do you have any other big plans for 2016? Can we expect any upcoming shows or tour dates?
The Bleach Tour will begin in June kicking off in New York and will be ending in July in California. Dates TBA
