Los Angeles based soulful alt-pop singer Molly Moore is currently celebrating the release of her second album, Now You See Me, the strong follow-up to her 2015 EP, Shadow Of The Sun. Lyrically uninhibited, Now You See Me finds Molly Moore right in her element, moving sonically into a more experimental production style that draws loose comparisons to Banks and London Grammar. We recently caught up with the singer to talk about the new EP and her plans for 2017! Read the full interview below.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself for any readers who may not be familiar?
I’m a part-time goofball, part-time extremely serious person, all the time creative/songwriter/performer/daughter/sister/lover/cousin/Virgo/indigochild/maniac & 1/2 of Cosmos & Creature. I started an independent label called Home Planet Records to put out my music at 22. I’m from New York & I was raised in a small town on the Hudson River. I graduated from High School 6 months early to start making my first demos.
You just released your new EP, Now You See Me this month! What inspired these songs?
Coming into my own as a person & creator really inspired this EP. Finding different ways to use my voice, my skills as a (verbal) co-producer, and experimenting with sounds & my style of lyricism. I wanted to get real with this record.
Now You See Me is the follow-up to your debut EP, Shadow of the Sun, which you released last year – how do you feel you’ve grown or evolved between these two releases?
I think Now You See Me is bolder, more sure of itself, & uniquely crafted. I was much more hands on in the process of creating the music with Brandyn on this record. I also wrote most of the lyric/melodies myself with a couple of close collaborators. I wanted to let the songs speak for themselves & that meant making the music as raw as possible. I asked myself, “does this feel right to me? Does it describe exactly how I’m feeling in this current moment?” instead of “will this make sense/resonate with other people?”.
Did you have any major goals in mind for this EP?
Just putting it out is pretty major for me honestly – haha. Of course I’d love to see it do extremely well… but that really wasn’t the goal. I wanted to share a part of me that didn’t feel expressed yet.
You recently released your new single, “Indigo” from the EP. What does this song mean to you?
It’s really just about embracing yourself for who you are even in the face of adversity. Knowing your future & potential, even if you aren’t there yet. Following your intuition. Speaking from your soul & heart. If you’ve ever heard of the term “Indigo Children”, it was also inspired by that concept.
Are there any songs in particular that you’re really excited for listeners to hear?
Now You See Me!!!
With 2016 wrapping up and Now You See Me out, do you have any big plans for the end of the year or beginning of next year? Could we expect to see you on the road soon?
Yes! We’ve been playing a number of dates in LA & should be on the road very soon. I’ll be heading to NY at the end of this month to finish the first Cosmos & Creature EP which should be out at the top of next year! :O Also… I’m working on a music video for Now You See Me & have remixes coming for the EP
Thank you for taking the time to chat with us! Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you! <3
