Chasing Safety are incredibly self-aware and their upcoming album, NOMAD is a direct reflection of just that. Co-written, produced, mixed and mastered by Kile O’Dell and Curtis Martin, the theme of NOMAD is a relatable one, how no matter the size or amount of people that surround you, the feeling of being alone is still present. With the album out on January 6th, Chasing Safety are going to start 2017 on a bang! Read the full interview with the band’s Johnny Galivan below.
Interview by Dom Vigil
I want to start off by talking about your new album, NOMAD, coming out in January – what are you most excited for listeners to hear on the album?
Im most excited for them to hear the album as a whole to be honest. The fact that the album is a lot different from the first is what i am stoked for people to hear.
Did you have any goals or plans when you first started working on NOMAD? Any messages that you wanted to convey?
Not really just an over all theme.
Where did the inspiration for the title and theme of NOMAD come from?
The theme is about being alone or on your own. And it kind of just came from personal life decisions I was forced to make.
How do you feel you’ve grown or evolved with the songs on NOMAD?
We’ve grown a lot. We were trying not to just put out a album of cookie cutter songs.
“Brand New Prison” was the first song you wrote and released from the album. What was the first impression you wanted to give with this song?
The song I think set a good example of what the album will be like. It came together so naturally. I’m stoked it was what people heard first.
You guys also just released the music video for your song, “This Is Hell.” Can you tell us a little bit about the track and the video? What inspired it?
The track is about being fed up and hating everything you’ve been dealt. And life inspired it.
Can fans expect to hear any more new music before the album releases in January?
We will see.
With NOMAD out early next year, do you have any plans to hit the road any time soon?
We have a run with Ice Nine Kills around our release date in the northeast USA.
Do you have any big goals or plans for 2017?
No plans but tons of goals.
Thanks for taking the time to chat with us! Is there anything else you’d like to add?
