Only two weeks into 2017, IRONTOM already had one hell of a year ahead of them with an arena tour alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers planned and their debut full-length finished and ready for the world to hear. Flash forward a few months, and the band is just about to release Partners a week before heading out on the road for the entire summer. After their run with Red Hot Chili Peppers, IRONTOM will be jumping on with MISSO throughout June and July.
With a busy summer ahead of them and plans to keep charging forward at full speed, IRONTOM vocalist Harry Hayes recently talked with us about the band’s upcoming full-length, tour dates and much more. Read the entire interview below.

Can you tell us a little bit about IRONTOM for any readers who might not be familiar?
We’re a band that loves to jam high up in the hills. We expel our sounds through the canyons in the dead of night, echoing endlessly into eternity. Oh, and we began in 2012 setting out to make loud music inspired by our favorite artists of the past, present and future. We recorded our first full-length album last year that is coming out on May 5.
You guys had an incredibly busy 2016 and are gearing up for an even more insane 2017! What has been the highlight of the last year for you?
Making our new album Partners was a huge thing for us. We learned so much in such a short amount of time. We’ve continued to apply the new things we learned in that process to how we approach every musical situation. It’s kind of like our wardrobe has been re-stocked and we’re ready to rock.
What do you hope to accomplish this year?
We just hope to keep taking everything we do to the next level while continuing to grow as musicians.
Your debut album, Partners is dropping on May 5th! What are you most excited for listeners to hear when they first listen to it?
We’re excited for people to hear the album as a whole. A few tracks have been released periodically and it’s been exciting, but having a full-length album out means listeners really get a chance to feel the flow of the music as one full piece.
It being your debut full-length, was there anything you really wanted to accomplish with Partners?
Sometimes it’s easy to get stuck in what you feel comfortable with so we really wanted to go out of our comfort zones. We felt like that was an important part in moving forward with our creativity, and with this album I think we did that.
The first track you released from the album was “Hookers.” Why was this the first song you wanted fans to hear? What is the story behind this track?
Starting out with somewhat of a brutal narrative for our first release felt like the right idea. That song came from an old jam and it’s been in our consciousness for a long time but we never actually finished it until the making of this record.
One week after the album drops, you’re hitting the road with the Red Hot Chili Peppers! I’m sure it goes without saying, but what are you most excited about on these upcoming shows?
We’re really stoked to play with RHCP. Really just getting to play for their fans and share the stage with them is a total honor. We couldn’t be more excited about it.
If someone is seeing or hearing of IRONTOM for the first time at one of these upcoming shows, what do you hope they take away from your performance?
We can only hope to excite people through our love of music and the passion that we put into our live performances.
After the album drops and tour dates wrap up, what’s next for IRONTOM? Is the second half of your year looking as busy as the first?
It’s like anything, the more energy you put into what’s in front of you, the more that will unfold. We’re about to surge through the next few months of playing a lot of shows around the U.S., with some great bands, so after that I’m sure there will be a lot more in store.
Thank you for taking the time to chat with us! Is there anything else you’d like to add?
You are welcome and just thank you for listening!
