Interview by Dom Vigil
You’ve had an incredibly busy summer with shows all over Colorado and appearances at Arise Music Festival, Boredom Fest and more. What has been the highlight of your year so far?
I think Arise Fest takes the win. I brought out a live drummer, vibraphonist, and vocalist/mc for a ‘live band’ like experience and it ended up being way cooler than I could have imagined. We drew a huge crowd while Tipper was on the main stage, and for our last 15 minutes we had almost the entire fest at our stage. It was amazing seeing such an incredible turnout.
Who have been some of your favorite artists to play or collaborate with this year?
I have put out collabs with Unlimited Gravity, Blunt Force, and Evanoff, but have many more in the works with artists such as Maddy Oneal! I cant really pick a favorite, but Ronnie from UG is a really good friend of mine and we look forward to collabing again.
Speaking of collaborations, you just released “Stealing Fire,” which you worked on with fellow Colorado musicians, Evanoff! What sparked this partnership between you guys?
Our shared management with Feyline started our relationship. We both played Electric Forest two years ago and camped next to each other. Its hard to walk away from a moment like EF not being great friends with each other.
What about Evanoff’s music inspires you?
JJs guitar has always caught my ear, he really knows how to shred!
Colorado is sort of a hub for electronic music, too. How do you feel this local scene has affected or shaped you as an artist?
In all honesty it has somewhat spoiled me as an electronic artist, our fans are like no place else. They give more love and dance harder than any other city I have played for. Which in turn has also motivated and excited me to perform better every time.
What would you like to bring to the Colorado scene that it might need?
Im not sure there is very much absent from the CO music scene, I only hope to enhance the focus of spreading love through art. We are all already very conscious and aware consumers of music.
With some new music, including “Stealing Fire” out now, do you have any other big plans for the rest of 2017? What can fans expect?
Lots and lots and lots of new music, with an eventual album release later into 2018. Bass Physics is just beginning.
Thank you for taking the time to chat with us! Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Follow your dreams 🙂
