Last month, Perth Australia four-piece, The Faim exploded into the scene with their massive debut single, “Saints Of The Sinners.” Produced by the iconic John Feldmann and co-written with Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, the dynamic track marks one hell of a entrance for the band, who will be hitting the road in the UK with Lower Than Atlantis, followed by a stint across Australia and New Zealand with Sleeping With Sirens. With their massive and unique sound, The Faim are a band you’re going to want to know before they inevitably blow up (more than they already have).
With “Saints Of The Sinners” out now and tour dates planned throughout the end of May, there’s no denying that 2018 will be The Faim’s year. Read what the band had to say about the creation of their debut single, plans for the future, and new music below.
Interview by Dom Vigil
The Prelude Press: Can you tell us a little bit about The Faim for anyone who might be hearing you for the first time?
Sean Tighe [drums]: We are a band from Perth, Australia, the most isolated city in the world. We recently got the privilege to work with our idol producer John Feldmann in Los Angeles and we’re so stoked on what’s to come. Our sound is a culmination of a variety of musical influences and all the creative aspects of each song mean something to us. We wanted to make sure that every song we create has an impact on people that can relate to our stories to ultimately inspire!
You guys made one hell of an entrance with your debut single, “Saints Of The Sinners.” What did you want to accomplish with this track?
We wanted to go all out at first, showing the unique side to whats yet to come.
For this song, you not only worked with John Feldmann, but also Pete Wentz to help it come to life. What do you feel both of them were able to bring to the track?
Just having Pete’s energy and overall presence in the room made us work harder then ever to ultimately create something out of the ordinary. We are so passionate about the music we produce and having our idols there made our creative side expand to the unknown.
Was it a bit of a learning experience working with both of them on “Saints Of The Sinners”? What did you take away from it?
It was definitely a huge learning curve for us as writers. Before we even began writing the song, Pete explained to us that whatever we write needs to be unique and authentic, and stand out from the music of millions of other artists out there in the world. Coming from such an experienced artist, this was a huge eye opener to the way we should be going about writing songs; pushing outside our comfort zone and taking every opportunity to experiment with new sounds.
With “Saints Of The Sinners” out now, you guys already have a massive year ahead of you, with tour dates planned across the UK, Australia and New Zealand. What are you looking forward to while you’re out on the road?
We can’t wait to be on the road exploring, traveling and just playing as many shows as we can. We have worked our asses off and to now know that we have all these tours planned makes us excited more than ever!
If someone is hearing you for the first time – be it at one of your upcoming shows or coming across “Saints Of The Sinners” – what would you want their first impression to be?
To feel something special, we want to leave a mark on anyone who watches us play for the first time. A mark of which they can then tell their friends what they felt and what made them feel that way in particular for them to want to come to the next show!
Can fans expect to hear some more new music soon?
Yes! We cant wait to share what we have in store.
Do you have any other big plans coming up? What does the rest of 2018 hold for The Faim?
We’re playing some amazing festivals in the UK very soon including Slam Dunk Festival, Download Festival and The Great Escape Festival. We also have a lot more exciting news to be announced, so stay tuned!
Thank you for taking the time to chat with us! Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Thanks guys for reaching out, pleasure answering these questions with you!
