Interview by Dom Vigil
Can you tell us a little bit about Prima Donna for any readers who might not be familiar?
We are a big burrito of rock ‘n’ roll. We’ve got a lot of ingredients – spirit of the 50’s, 60’s garage, 70’s glam, early punk and 80’s new wave. We’re best when playing live shows.
Having been involved in other projects (both previously and currently, even) what makes Prima Donna special to you?
I love this band. I loved this band before I was even a member – I was a fan first.
What makes you excited to keep writing Prima Donna songs?
I’m always excited about writing new songs. Being in the room with the guys working on new material is always a blast.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned over the years that you feel have made you stronger musicians or even just smarter when it comes to being in a band? Do you feel any of that has affected this project?
We have been playing together for so long that we know how to find what works and what doesn’t. In a way, we know each other better than anyone else does.
Prima Donna has a new album, S/T out now! What inspired this release? What are you excited for listeners to hear on it?
I’m excited for people to hear all of it. It’s all good stuff.
We all did stuff on this record that we were not accustomed to doing. Each one of us was pushed way out of our comfort zones. The results were highly successful.
Now that it has been out for a little over a month, what are some of your favorite things about the album?
Listening to it from start to finish.
With S/T out now, do you guys have any shows coming up or tour dates in the works?
June 29th at the El Rey. Be there!!!
Do you have any other big plans or goals for 2018?
TOURING, touring it’s never boring!!!
