Interview by Shannon Shumaker
The last time we caught up with you, you had just released your single, “Blue Eyes”! What has been the highlight of the past year since then for you?
The highlight of my year has been moving to Los Angeles. I have always planned on moving out west but it was so exciting for it to actually happen this year. Since moving I have had the pleasure of working on my music almost every day and it’s incredible to be surrounded by so many songwriters, producers and artistic people.
What has been keeping you busy lately?
I’ve been writing so much music lately and I’m so excited to finally be releasing some of it! I also made a music video for this song so that was a lot of fun. Day to day I’m constantly working with new people, playing local shows and recording. It gets super hectic but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Obviously, I want to talk about your new single, “Hypochondriac” which you just released! What inspired this track?
This sounds kind of funny but I’m honestly a huge hypochondriac. I’ve spent quite a few more hours than I’d like to admit on WebMD. (It’s a black hole for me haha) But at some point I remember thinking about how similar that feeling of paranoia is to some relationships I’ve been in. The feeling would always start to creep in when I found myself reading into the tiniest details and I really wanted to capture that emotion into a song.
I really enjoyed the process of writing this song. It was so much fun to get creative and visual with the lyrics. That’s one thing I’ve tried to improve on and I’m really proud of every line of this song. The recording process was extremely detailed and I think that also really comes across in the song. The producer, Not Famous, and I really tried to capture as much emotion in the track and the vocal as possible.
What would you like fans to take away from the track?
I hope that fans feel the honesty in my lyrics and can relate to them. I try my best to draw from my own life and tell my truth, but my biggest hope is that it resonates with others. I think to some extent we all have felt anxious and paranoid in relationships and I hope this song makes people feel like they aren’t alone in feeling these things.
With “Hypochondriac” out now, can fans expect to hear any more new music soon?
I’m hoping to get a few more singles and collaborations out before the end of 2018 so stay tuned on my social media pages for more updates. Also keep an eye out for the official music video for “Hypochondriac” coming very soon. 😉
Do you have any other big plans for the rest of 2018?
I would really love to go on tour and open up for a bigger artist so I’m hoping to lock that in before the end of 2018. Aside from that I’m going to continue writing and performing around LA.
Thank you for taking the time to chat with us! Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you so much for talking with me! I can’t wait for what’s to come in this next year and thank you to everyone who has listened to the song; it really means the world to me!
