Last month, Montreal native Jesse Mac Cormack released his debut full-length album, Now, on Secret City Records. A long time in the marking, Now follows three EPs – 2014’s Music for the Soul, 2015’s Crush and 2016’s After the Glow – and finds Jesse exploring his sounds more than ever before. A sense of exploration and fearlessness can be heard on Now, which promises to translate well in a live setting, and with a run of tour dates planned throughout summer and fall, Jesse is showing now signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself for anyone who might not be familiar?
I’m an art rock musician and producer. I live for music and always look forward to the next step to find out where creativity and people I meet will bring me.
Earlier this month you celebrated the release of your new album, Now. What were you the most excited for fans to hear on this release?
A lot of the songs on the record are very stage oriented and were written from big beats. It’s exciting to put out a bunch songs with catchy choruses and a lot of percussive elements.
Did you have any major goals in mind when you first started working on Now?
My main goal was to write songs that would be fun to carry on the road.
How do you feel you’ve grown with the writing, recording and release of the album?
I mixed the record with Matt Wiggins and learned a couple of new tricks producing wise with him.
With Now out, do you have any plans to hit the road any time soon? Any shows coming up?
I have a US show on June 17th in Los Angeles at Bardot.
Do you have any other big goals for 2019?
I am working on new songs. I’d like to put an other album together and I would love to play shows in Africa.
