Little Hurt might be a new project, but mastermind, Colin Dieden is no stranger to the music industry. As the former lead singer of the internationally successful indie-alt-rock band The Mowgli’s, Dieden has had over ten years of experience in the music scene and is finally getting the chance to fully bare his soul and be himself with Little Hurt. Just last month, he launched the solo project, with his debut single, “Good As It Gets” out now and a debut EP coming soon.
With “Good As It Gets” out now and more new music on the horizon, we caught up with Colin to chat about the new project and his plans for the rest of the year. Read the interview now below.
Can you tell us a little bit about Little Hurt? What makes this new project different or exciting for you?
It’s my first time really striking out on my own after being the industry for 10 years. It’s a bit nerve wracking but overall I am very excited!
It being your debut solo release, is there anything that you want to accomplish with this EP that you haven’t had the chance to try with other projects? What goals did you have when working on it?
I really want to show people the real me. My main goal for Little Hurt is to be as authentic and honest as possible even to the point sometimes where it may be uncomfortable.
How has the writing process differed for these songs versus songs that you work on with a full band? Has it been daunting or revealing at all?
The writing process wasn’t much different to be honest, now I just feel like I am telling a story that is uniquely my own as opposed to a story that I think everyone in a band could relate. It’s just a different approach and mentality.
Your new single “Good As It Gets” just dropped – can you tell us a little bit about the track?
I was super excited to release this song. A lot of anticipation and thought went into its release on my end. “Good As It Gets” is a glimpse into what I’ve been going through in this incredibly difficult transitional period of me leaving my old band and moving onto whatever is next for my career as a solo artist.
What would you like for fans to take away from “Good As It Gets”?
I just hope they think it’s really good and that they connect with it on any level.
Are there any stories that you want to tell with your upcoming EP and this new solo project?
Yes, I am going to continue digging deeper and deeper into my past and myself and see what I uncover. And I am pretty excited about it. I’ve never approached music in the way that I am now.
Can fans expect to hear some more new music soon?
Yep! We have another single dropping soon although I don’t believe I’m supposed to reveal the date just yet. I am very excited for the fans to hear it though.
Thanks for taking the time to chat with us! Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you for your time.
