“I wrote ‘End of the World’ in a period of my life where I was going through a lot. We all fall down sometimes and make mistakes and, sometimes, trying to rectify them seems almost impossible,” says JULIET SIMMS to Entertainment Weekly about her new heartbreaking single and video which premieres today here: http://goo.gl/yNjg0Y. “This song is about how circumstances in your life can come crashing down and the pain can feel almost insurmountable. Often times these emotions lend themselves to feeling like it is the end of the world.”
The emotionally-gripping video, which co-stars Andy Biersack of rock band Black Veil Brides, was directed by Joshua Schultz (Paramore, Portugal. The Man, Brandon Boyd) and tells a tragic story that unfolds into a tear-jerking denouement. “He is such a professional,” she says of filming with Andy. “It felt very natural since we’ve been together for over four years now. It was a total pleasure!”
Taken from her independently released acclaimed EP All or Nothing, “End of the World” is the first single released since her amazing second place run on the second season of NBC’s The Voice. “After my success on the show with classic rock, bluesy soulful stylings, I knew it was what people wanted to hear again,” she explains. “Performance-wise, I would say The Voice helped me become a professional frontwoman. It wasn’t all rainbows and gumdrops after all was said and done, but the experiences I’ve gone through these last few years were almost necessary so certain songs could be written and artistry attained.”
All or Nothing has been showered with praise, including rock bible KNAC.com who gave the EP a perfect five out of five score, saying, “Solo artists may have some of the harshest criticisms because a voice is all he or she is showcasing, but Simms rises above that. She has great tone, her pitch is near perfect and her voice has character that intensifies with each tune on the EP.”
All or Nothing was birthed via a very successful PledgeMusic campaign that raised far above its original goal and impressively landed in the Top Ten of numerous industry charts upon release in February 2015. “This EP and its songs really represent coming back from the ashes and rising like a phoenix,” she says reflectively. All or Nothing was produced by Aaron Sprinkle (OneRepublic Anberlin, He Is We).
