Toronto based Selfish Things releases their debut single “Spooky Actions at a Distance“
“I don’t consciously select ‘dark’ subject matter” Alexander Biro says of Selfish Things’ emotionally charged first single, “Spooky Action at a Distance”. “I just think there is a lot of bullshit in the world; a significant lack of self respect. To keep people around you who treat you like shit simply because of a cultural expectation teaches you to feel obligated. To do so isn’t living.”
The single channels the pain, suffering and unnecessary hurt that comes with living a life based on impermanent, non-linear ideas that perpetuate egotism and self-hate. The track highlights the importance of getting rid of people who only bring self indulgent suffering to the table. It is a song for anyone who’s desired the truth, longed to be loved or searched endlessly for themselves. It is anthem for the bullied and misunderstood kid in the back of the classroom.
Indirectly, “Spooky Action at a Distance” is a song about you.
