Brooklyn Urban Pop group DOWNBEAT KEYS have unveiled “Final Round,” a new single that debuted yesterday on DJ Booth. The track is the first for the group since their widely embraced 2013 debut memory.chrome.
Recorded at MoreSound Studios in Syracuse, NY, a top flight facility that has recently cut records for John Brown’s Body and Rubblebucket, “Final Round” was produced in Brooklyn by Robert Guariglia (Oh Honey, The Veronicas), and mixed in Las Vegas by 5-time Grammy winner James “Bonzai” Caruso (Damian Marley, Nas, Mary J Blige, Notorious B.I.G.).
A dynamic 5-piece, DBK formed at Hamilton College in 2008 and have gone on to share bills with Future, Bleachers, Best Coast, Matt and Kim, Soulive, Talib Kweli, Passion Pit, Bon Jovi, and several other marquee acts.
“We’ve been working on our game for a minute now, and are so ready to get some sh!t out there. There’s a lot of soul in this track (sonically and spiritually) that we think people will react to. And most importantly, it’s funky as hell,” says the DBK crew.
DownBeat Keys plan to release another single, “Overboard,” later this summer. In support of the new tracks, the band will perform a free show at Rockwood Music Hall on July 24th. For more information on DownBeat Keys, visitfacebook.com/downbeatkeys.
