Having spent much of the spring on a North American tour supporting their new record, Arizona’s The Maine are gearing up for what will surely be an even more memorable run this fall. The Maine, who dropped their fifth studio album American Candy earlier this year intend to spend the record cycle doing what they do best – touring in as many unique and creative ways that they possibly can. Today, the band announces their upcoming fall plans – the Free For All Tour – which will see them take the record across the US and into Canada performing in less conventional venues – completely free of charge. Fans can experience the free show in shopping malls, parks, and other public spaces. The band is excited to perform for their fans without charging a standard ticket price. Pat Kirch, drummer of the five-piece explains the origin of the tour as “an idea that we have had for years now and we finally pulled the trigger on it. It’s a way for us to say thank you to the people that have supported us for the past eight years.”
The tour kicks off August 30th, runs through the duration of September, and wraps up in early October. Mixed into the free for all shows are another set of unique dates – The Maine’s American Candy underplay concerts. These dates will take place in small clubs across the country and are sure to sell out quickly. The focal point of the dates will be the band playing the new album in its entirety – from start to finish completely. The encore will feature a setlist of fan favorites and older songs that haven’t made it into their shows for awhile. The band is looking forward to “fully realizing the album on stage together” lead vocalist John O’Callaghan explains.
Fans who have caught The Maine’s live show before can still expect the same level of fan interaction following the performances at each date. The band intends to hang out with fans, be accessible for photos, and sign after each show. Over the years, these interactions are a huge part of the band’s identity and perhaps one of the biggest factors that sets them apart from many other bands in the scene. Since the release of American Candy, the band feels fan support has been nothing short of brilliant. “People seem to really be connecting to the music and that is all you could ever want as an artist”, Kirch states. “This band is built on a foundation of support and love and it’s incredible to see how inviting those who’ve been with us from the beginning have been of new faces along the way,” O’Callaghan adds.
If nothing else, The Free For All Tour serves as a celebration for the amazing year The Maine has experienced in 2015. Fans can find more info on individual shows over at www.wearethemaine.net
