Bostonian singer/songwriter, Josh Friedman, has been bringing a soulful edge to synth-pop music. The artist, who performs under the moniker ThatOneEyedKid, evokes an undeniable sincerity in his songs. Josh’s music resonates positivity, an attitude he cultivated as a teenager from battling and surviving cancer. This Boston University graduate began cultivating quite a following performing on campus and releasing beautiful piano covers of popular tunes on YouTube. Recently ThatOneEyedKid began preparing to release his sophomore EP,Always, which is due out September 18, 2015. Today he’s partnered with Baeble Music to unveil the second single and title track off the project.
When asked about the inspiration behind the song Josh shared, “I think when we fall in love we kind of go a little insane… When it’s good, it’s just manic happiness 24/7, or when it’s bad it’s like existential-meltdown bad. I think most love songs tend to fall in one camp or the other, and I always wanted to write a song that tried to capture both of those feelings at once, and that’s where ‘Always’ was born.”
