Howling and wailing all the way from Shreveport, Louisiana with a whole lot of soul and inimitable raw talent are Seratones, Fat Possum Record‘s new signing and one of the best new rock & roll bands you’ll hear in 2015. The four-piece – led by powerhouse frontwoman AJ Haynes whose thunderous vocals recall the grit of Janis Joplin and gospel of Mavis Staples – will release a 7 inch single “Necromancer”/”Take It Easy” on October 16th. Listen to the swinging and surging a-side “Necromancer” below and PRESS HERE to pre-order the single now.
Longtime friends with a mutual love of their hometown’s fleeting punk rock scene,
Seratones was born in early 2014 and they’ve proven a force to be reckoned with since day one. After signing with Fat Possum Records earlier this year, Seratones delivered jaw-dropping performances at SXSW 2015, where NME declared their set “the best off-the-cuff performance I’ve ever seen at SXSW.” The band also submitted to NPR Music‘s Tiny DeskContest a few months ago and – though they did not win – were interviewed on NPR‘s Sunday Weekend Edition as a result of their submission. What all began at age six for Haynes – who started singing in her local Baptist Church where she was taught to “project her voice to hit the back wall” – has now become Seratones, beasts of the Southern wild and one of the most exciting up-and-comers in rock & roll today.
Seratones are hitting the road next month on tour with Houdmouth and St. Paul and the Broken Bones. They will also make their New York debut at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon 2015. See below for tour routing to catch a show near you.
Seratones are: AJ Haynes (vocals), Connor Davis (guitar), Adam Davis (bass) and Jesse Gabriel(drums).
