The Kooks return today with a brand new track, “Creatures of Habit”, produced by Isom Innis of Foster The People. Fans can listen via NYLON. The track will be released on streaming outlets only this Friday, October 16th.
With a dizzying chorus and hyper infectious guitars stacked against a disco-infused bass line, the new single, “Creatures of Habit” is a step away from their acoustic roots, and sees the band dabble in hip-hop and dance influences.
The London-based four piece’s chief ally in their new direction on the track was the producer, Isom Innis. Frontman Luke Pritchard explains, “We took some pretty huge synths and a very miniature piano and worked. It’s a reflection of my times in L.A. and living a bit of the American Dream and the American nightmare. Being far away from home but also feeling at home.”
Having built a reputation as an act that are not scared to visit a broad range of genres in their releases, The Kooks have blended rock, pop, and now hip hop and funk elements into their music to create a new sound all their own that feels undeniably Kooks.
