Eleanor Friedberger has announced a month-long North American tour in support of her forthcoming record New View. These shows will feature new material, as well as favorites from her previous, much-loved solo records, Last Summer and Personal Record. Tickets go on sale Friday at 12 PM locally. Eleanor Friedberger will release New View on January 22nd, 2016. New View is the follow-up to 2013’s critically acclaimed Personal Record and is her first album as a signee to NYC’s seminal indie label Frenchkiss Records. New View signals a fresh beginning for the former Fiery Furnaces’ frontwoman. After living in Brooklyn for fourteen years, Friedbergermoved to upstate New York, and the album reflects that region’s rustic charm. Friedbergerdrew inspiration for New View from many of her musical heroes – everyone from Van Morrison, Neil Young and George Harrison, to Slapp Happy, Yoko Ono and Elyse. There are ghost notes of all of those influences on New View, but mostly you hear the singular voice ofEleanor Friedberger, whose warm, inviting alto and incredible word play continue to make her one of the foremost songwriters in the indie rock world today.
