Rising electro pop artist JoLivi has unveiled the music video for her sultry single “Games.” The video premiered on Fanlala and is available to view on JoLivi’s official YouTube channel. “Games” is the first single off of JoLivi’s forthcoming self-titled EP; set to be released February 2016.
“The song is a tale of two who love each other but love the game even more,” JoLivi explained. “I want to be a strong voice for other women who go through what I went through, like how Alanis Morissette and Gwen Stefani were for me. I want to show that its ok to be vulnerable, to be heart-broken, to make the wrong choices, to lose yourself, and to ultimately know when its time to move on.”
For Los Angeles-based singer JoLivi (formerly known as Leihoku), a little loss, some good ol’ fashioned heartbreak, and a newfound sense of confidence helped define who she truly is as an artist. Her life experiences influenced and evolved her musical sound from adult contemporary island-infused pop on her debut EP, 2013’s Trouble With You Gone, to a fresh alternative pop vibe on her upcoming EP.
“I’ve gone through a lot of difficult things,” JoLivi revealed. “My grandfather died and I went through a really bad breakup. I got my heart broken over and over, but I kept going back to this relationship and it made me feel things I never felt. It made me think about things on a deeper level. It changed me. It helped me grow as a person and as a writer, so I got my pen and paper out and started writing in a way I’ve never written before.”
JoLivi’s new self-titled six-song EP is filled with passionate and personal songs hailing from the darker recesses of her mind and heart. The EP is set to be released in February 2016.
