After making a striking debut for Roadrunner Records UK with the sold-out EP ‘The Callous Heart’, the rise ofSouthampton goth-punks CREEPER continues unabated with the February 19th release of the new EP ‘The Stranger’. Hot on the heels of being added to Radio 1’s In New Music We Trust List yesterday, they build towards its release by unveiling the video for ‘Black Mass’.
“The concept behind the video is a dream that our EP’s cover character named Madeline is experiencing,” explains vocalist Will Gould. “She’s in the middle of an episode of sleep psychosis with the band performing to her in her dream. She awakes to find herself in her bedroom.”
“The song’s lyrics are written from the perspective of the character of The Stranger, the heartbroken monster who is the EP’s namesake,” he continues. “They’re partly inspired by recounts of sleep paralysis, where sufferers describe seeing a ‘black matter’ or ‘black mass’ haunting them in their rooms at night, while they lie paralysed in bed.”
‘The Stranger’ EP will be available in the US via digital download and can now be pre-ordered from iTunes(http://po.st/StrangeriTunes).
Having recently addedguitarist Oliver Burdett and keyboardist Hannah Greenwood to the CREEPER ranks, the band’s new line-up will debut at the Birmingham O2 Institute on February 1st where CREEPER play as guests toNeck Deep.
Their first headline tour as a sextet commences later that month and includes their biggest headline show to date at TheUnderworld on March 3rd. The gig was upgraded from the original venue of The Barfly after that show sold-out in less than 24 hours.
