Beach Weather – composed of members Nick Santino (vocals/guitar), Reeve Powers (bass), and Austin Scates (drums) – release their brand new music video for single “New Skin” off their debut EP What A Drag (2015). Having formed only late last year, the music video is the first from the band. Videographer Alexa San Roman loaned her talents to pull together the video, shooting in the suburbs of Boston.
The video, premiering today on VEVO, visually conceptualizes the band’s fresh start as a new project. “When we talked about making a music video, I personally felt that “New Skin” would be a great choice for the song. “New Skin” is a song I wrote all about starting something new. Having another chance at something you love. Not being afraid of what’s to come,” Santino explains. The video shows the band performing the song in an intimate space that allows fans a glimpse into the style preferences while encapsulating the very essence of Beach Weather. It’s cut in with B-roll of the band members going about a regular day together, laughing and really showing the friendships that live behind the music. For Santino, that’s exactly what he is hoping fans see in the video. “We want to make a video that felt just that. Something that really portrayed happiness and a fresh start. I’m very happy with how this one turned out.”
Today not only marks the release of the “New Skin” music video, but also the release of the latest issue of UK based magazine Rock Sound, where Beach Weather has a full feature in print. The feature is an exclusive interview with frontman Santino, as well as acts as a preview to the band’s upcoming European Tour – as support for Sleeping With Sirens and This Wild Life. Only six months after coming together, Beach Weather has breached the radar of many other notable press outlets – including garnering positive reviews of their EP and live performance alike. The band’s first national US Tour was completed last fall, supporting Arizona’s The Maine.
