Guitarist Luke Holmes tells Noisey.com, “we recorded most of the record with Sam Guaiana, and a couple tracks with Derek Hoffman. They both really challenged us to embrace a lot more of our poppy-er riffs and ideas. We’ve always thought of ourselves as more of a no frills punk band than anything else. This time however, we sorta took a step out of our heavier, more aggressive comfort zone and used a lot of parts and ideas that we wouldn’t typically have thought to use on this record. We’re stoked on how Distant Like You Asked turned out. We hope you dig this album from front to back.”
When asked about the meaning behind the record, fellow axeman Greg Hall says, “Distant Like You Asked is a cumulative representation of frustrations, anxieties and sadness that occurred over the course of 2015,” guitarist Greg Hall tells Noisey.com. “Heartbreak, loss and void consumes everybody. We want people to relate to this record in a very personal way.”
