Last week, Guelph, Ontario-based progressive death metal outfit Becomes Astral released their album, Paleblood Sky, which features six pulverizing tracks recorded and mixed by Christian Donaldson and Marco Frechette (The Grid). To celebrate the album’s release, the band have also shared the official music video for the opening track, “The Glass Lake,” a song that begins with a joyous sound then quickly turns on it’s head to show you the instability we all feel in everyday life. Watch the video below.
“The Glass Lake” is a term coined by an eccentric acquaintance of the vocalist, Cam Sherer. He used this term to describe the downfall of humanity saying it’s only a matter of time before we hit ‘the glass lake.’ What Sherer aims to convey through these lyrics is that we must be conscious of our impact on what we often forget, how it is a fragile existence and can very suddenly become detrimental toward our initial momentum.
Becomes Astral’s album, Paleblood Sky is out now and can be purchased here. The band also just kicked off their national Canadian tour with Eye of Horus, and dates can be found below.
