Dreamy D have released the official music video for their new single “I Am Real,” which can be seen below. “I am real. I am here. And I fucking matter,” states vocalist Donnie Doolittle on the ominous tale of pain & darkness, which follows up their debut single “Other Man.” The track will also be featured on the band’s forthcoming LP Hard Forever, to be released on October 27th.
The members of Dreamy D were begrudgingly born and southern-bred. During the winter of 2015, vocalist Donnie Doolittle started the band in Charlotte, North Carolina. Shivering next to a tiny space heater and a bigass bottle of wine, Doolittle wrote piano ballads and guitar loops, not knowing if they’d ever see the light of day. Over the course of a few years, the solo recording project slowly grew into the full band permutation that it is today (featuring members of YAITW and Funeral Chic).
Always spooky, Dreamy D meanders from genre to genre. From western spaghetti to wailing psychedelia. From piano ballad to pure doom. They’ve been described as sounding like an angry and jaded boner, glistening in the moonlight during Mercury’s retrograde. They taste like purple. They are Iggy perverting Pink Floyd. They are Nick Cave as Swans guzzle his girth. They are the space in the free fall from grace that Leonard lives in. They are Lee Hazlewood meeting the Oogie Boogie man. They are strictly romantic, and hard forever.
