Phoenix – who released one of the year’s most talked-about albums, Ti Amo, this June on Loyaute/Glassnote Records – have released a special collaborative video with La Blogotheque in partnership with Google Arts & Culture today.
Directed by Colin Solal-Cardo, the clip, which features a stripped down performance of the album’s title track and current radio single, “Ti Amo,” was filmed in Mantova, Italy at the legendary Teatro Bibiena. Watch it now below.
Teatro Bibiena was built in the 1760s and once housed a concert by Mozartwhen he was fourteen years old. When Phoenix were looking for a special place to film this session — a place that captured the real life magic of the fantasized Italy they created within Ti Amo — the Teatro was their first choice. They requested the help of Google Arts & Culture to help secure the location; the resulting video, which also includes everyday people of the City of Mantova, is a stunning rendition of one of the year’s most brilliant songs.
Phoenix also recently took part in an amazing VR experience with Song Exploder and Google for the song “Ti Amo,” allowing users to literally break down and rearrange the parts of the song as they play. Check the experience out HERE.
Lastly, Phoenix will be playing special dates in support of Ti Amo in America this fall. Los Angeles’ most exciting up-and-coming new band, LO MOON, will open for them. All of the band’s tour dates are below.
