Cut Chemist Announces “Madman” EP & New Music Video

    By Dom VigilNovember 2, 2017

Multi-platinum selling UK rock band THE DARKNESS – frontman Justin Hawkins, guitarist Dan Hawkins, bassist Frankie Poullain and drummer Rufus Taylor – released Easter Is Cancelled, their first ever concept album, in October via Cooking Vinyl.

Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) has announced the release of his 12-inch vinyl EP titled Madman, out tomorrow! Earmilk premiered the news of Madman, which features musical contributions from Mumbles, Gone Beyond and Deantoni Parks, by premiering the video for the EP’s title track which can be seen now below.

Described by Cut Chemist as “a hypnotizing collaboration between myself and French electronic pioneer Vox Populi!” the “Madman” video showcases a series of clips put together by found footage video artist Tom Fitzgerald and pushes a sense of whimsical hysteria down the spine of viewers. He continues, stating, “its dark…yet the time signature changes give it a sense of playfulness.”

The EP represents the first available content for purchase since Pitchfork launched the Die Cut campaign. The long-awaited follow up to The Audience’s Listening, Die Cut will be Cut Chemist’s first full-length album since 2006. Madman will be available starting November 3, 2017.  The additional 3 songs on the EP are available only on the physical vinyl release.

Die Cut, which will be released in early 2018, features appearances by Deantoni Parks (The Mars Volta), Biz Markie, actress Erika Christensen (Parenthood), tune-yards, Farmer Dave Scher, Dexter Story, and more, serves as a natural progression from his now classic 2006 debut, which received praise from A.V. Club, Entertainment Weekly, and a rare perfect score from Alternative Press.
