The Wombats have unveiled a dark, cinematic music video for their new single “Lemon To A Knife Fight”. The visual puts a twist on the song’s exploration of a toxic relationship’s emotional rollercoaster with a sinister plot involving kidnapping and attempted murder, which finds the heroine turning the tables on her attackers thanks to a phantasmagoric transformation.
Director Finn Keenan shared, “The idea for this video came from the line in the brief ‘David Lynch meets Power Rangers’. I wanted to make something that started off dark, surreal and little bit disturbing but then flip it on its head with a big ole’ twist that led to a ludicrous ending. These hunters do this every month, but this time they picked the wrong werewolf.”
“Lemon To A Knife Fight” is The Wombats’ first release from forthcoming album BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE, out February 9, 2018 via Kobalt Music Recordings, and premiered via The Fader and as the “Hottest Record in the World” on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show. BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE is available for pre-order now HERE.
In support of the album, the band will be embarking on a North American tour this January, as well as joining Weezer and The Pixies on their summer 2018 co-headline tour. Full tour routing is below – CLICK HERE to purchase tickets!
