Chicago alt/rock outfit Hidden Hospitals have released their new single “Liars,” the title track from their forthcoming album, due out on May 18th. Listen to the song now below.
Fronted by vocalist and primary songwriter Dave Raymond, Hidden Hospitals’ sound oscillates around modern rock and cult electronica, with lyrics balancing everyday dualities from the first line— “I lost my fingers when I found my fists.” —to the last breath. Together, their created sound and story are a pulse of hope grounded in the reality of authentic relationships and experiences. Hidden Hospitals’ newest album, Liars, is the manifestation of a singular place, point in time, and frame of mind. And while it is the band’s fourth release, singer Raymond feels as though they’ve hit reset, focusing on the future without forgetting the past: “Close everything else, this is page one.” With the help of producer J. Hall (Matt Kearney, Acceptance, As Cities Burn), they’ve successfully bridged the gap between Diamond Eyes era’s Deftones and Radiohead’s Kid A, giving us a glimpse of a persistent absence in today’s rock n’ roll.
“I demoed all of the songs for Liars in Chicago, then moved to Los Angeles for three winter months to write the lyrics,” Raymond explains. “I didn’t want to break what I had to say with time or other experiences, so for the better part of three months, I just wrote. Every day, mostly outside or at Woodcat Coffee in Echo Park. LA affected me a lot.”
Fans can expect more new music, videos and tour dates ahead of the album release. Liars will be available on all digital formats, and a limited vinyl exclusive via Spartan Records. The album can be pre-ordered HERE. In support of common sense gun control across America, the band is also offering a special digital version of the album including 3 bonus tracks, all profits from which will be donated to directly to EveryTown.
