Adam French has released a stunning cover of Millencolin’s classic song, “No Cigar” taken from his upcoming EP, You From The Rest out Spring 2018. A true skate punk anthem having featured in the soundtrack to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, one of the most acclaimed video games of all time, Adam’s version is set to take the track to a whole new generation of audience.
Adam shares; “I spent an unhealthy amount of my childhood hammering the Tony Hawk’s games and wishing I was a ‘better than awful’ skater in real life, so it felt right to cover this both for my own nostalgia… but also for everyone else out there that was as bad in real life as I was. Additionally, it’s just a really well written song, lyrically it’s meaningful and when you strip it back to its core there’s quite a lot of emotion in the story. It’s powerful for loads of different reasons.”
Shot in a single take, the stunning live video is a delicate and emotive re-interpretation that highlights all the raw emotion of the original song. In a darkened room, one moon-like light illuminates Adam and fellow musicians as the track unfolds. Watch the video now below.
Produced by Rich Cooper (Mystery Jets, Lucy Rose, Billie Marten, Tom Odell), You From The Rest EP is a beautiful, intimate collection of tracks… This follows on from Adam’s recent Weightless EP which was released at the end of 2017.
