Anna Shoemaker has returned today with the release of “Liquor Store,” an intimate and instantly enchanting indie-pop gem. Listen to the track now below!
“This was my first time writing a song with another person (my friend Jesse Fink),” explains Shoemaker to idobi Radio. “I usually write alone from a pretty vulnerable place so learning to do that with someone else was cool. Jesse sent me a voice note he had come up with and I was into it so we finished it up together on FaceTime. I’m a big believer in feeling your feelings. If you’re hurting, you need to let yourself hurt otherwise it’s just going to be trapped up inside you. If you need to lay on the floor and cry for an hour in order to move on and get over it, that’s what you need to do.”
Produced by GRAMMY-nominated JT Daly (K.Flay’s “Blood In The Cut”) – who also produced her debut single – “Liquor Store” marks Shoemaker’s second release. It once again captures the grit and glamour that makes Shoemaker an artist you’re going to want to keep an eye on. Last month, Shoemaker unveiled her debut single, “What Am I Doing To Me?” complete with a fun-loving, quintessentially New York music video directed by Thrice Cooked Media.
Shoemaker launched her music career with a viral mashup of Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” and Chance The Rapper’s “Cocoa Butter Kisses” that amassed over 750K Soundcloud streams and got her noticed by Steve Madden’s record label, 5Towns Records. Shoemaker also has an impressive resume of live performances, closing out last year with a supporting slot at Bishop Briggs’ sold out Music Hall of Williamsburg show, and playing at key NYC institutions such as Ludlow House, Mercury Lounge, Rockwood Music Hall, and Bowery Electric.
