DELUNE, the NYC-based alt-pop duo formed by sisters Kate and Izzi Eberstadt, have released the music video for their new song, “Those Days” today.
The song is about dreams dissolving, about ambition collapsing and losing sight of yourself. The entrancing production is influenced by their experiences in the Berlin underground club music scene, getting lost in the fog, stepping out and not recognizing who you are anymore. The song was recorded at Stronger Bond Studios with engineer Sonatic Music Groupin collaboration with Bronx-based producer LYNX.
When asked about depth of the song the DELUNE sisters shared, Those Days is a memorial: for every friend weve lost, for the people we left behind, for the long nights weve spent losing ourselves to the heavy beat in clubs. To the loss of dreams, loss of innocence, loss of self…. And to losing you.
They teamed up with Katharine White to bring the emotional content of the song to life. Together they created a raw and explosive portrait of loss.
DELUNE blends pop and electronic elements, fusing this with folk sensibilities and their hauntingly beautiful vocal harmonies. This was exemplified in their debut single and cinematic music video “Wild West Side Highway, which dropped October 2018.
Producers, songwriters, singers, artists, best friends, lovers of the moon and night sky, the DELUNE sisters are accomplished musicians and dedicated activists with a flair for theatrics. They have always collaborated on creating characters and worlds as a duo; from writing stories and cartooning, to composing musicals, to penning tongue and cheek poems and limericks, as well as humorous videos. Many of these creations were debuted in their living room as kids, shared only amongst close friends and family. Just as Batman is seldom found without Robin, one is hard pressed to find a DELUNE sister without the other in orbit.
Both graduated from Columbia University and were musical directors of the universitys oldest a cappella group Notes & Keys. In 2016, Kate, who performed on stage with Lady Gaga at the 2013 VMA’s, founded and directed The Hutto Project, a performing arts program for children living within an emergency refugee camp in Berlin. Izzi joined the project after graduating from university that spring. Upon returning home, the duo joined Urban Art Beats Beyond Beats and Bars, a recording and creative arts program serving incarcerated youth on Rikers Island.
DELUNE are currently working on their debut EP which is due out later this year.
