LA-based indie/alt band Isla June has released their music video for “Knew You When”. The track is the follow up to the band’s 2018 single “Willows,” and will be followed by more new music in the coming months. The band will host a video release show on February 19th, presented by We Found New Music at Madame Siam in LA. The show is free with RSVP – details can be found HERE.
“We wanted to create a space that felt familiar,” vocalist Jenna Maranga explains. “So it all takes place in a living room and the scenes change, and I wanted to make things that were familiar for people — the party/prom scene, the homecoming scene, everything evokes a familiar feeling, like lying on your couch at night when you’re home sick and it’s very hot, or just hot summer days, hanging out at the house bored, frustrated with the heat, not sure what you’re going to do with yourself. It’s kind of nostalgic and comforting, I hope.”
Isla June is the project of LA-based singer/songwriter/guitarist Jenna Maranga. It captures the essence of old and new, fusing a deep appreciation of a bygone era of rock, jazz, and soul with close-to-home, melody-driven songwriting. Isla June is a band that yearns, pleads, and wears its emotion on its sleeves, with songs that feel like a notion one has in a dream. Soft. Fuzzy at the edges. Yet clear and memorable. The band recently saw their single “Strange Times, Dark Days” placed on CW’s Riverdale, were featured in Free People stores around the U.S. in 2018, and landed in Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Six Strings playlist with their single “Runway.“
