Home Body will release their new album Spiritus on April 26 via Feeding Tube Records and Peace & Rhythm (pre-order). The official video for the “DNA,” the first single from the forthcoming release can be seen now below.
About the song the band adds:
“Over the course of making Spiritus we experienced several large losses in our close friend group and well as our biological families, including both of Eric parents. Watching people we love suffer and face the reality of death, and supporting close friends through their journeys with grief, has certainly shifted our relationship to life and living. It feels even more important now that we prioritize matters of the heart and spirit, aligning our time and energy in pursuit of joy and connection. ‘DNA’ was written while thinking about inherited trauma and resiliency, curiosity about our ancestors, recognizing our biological gifts, and cycles of life and death. We worked with Patty Bella Gone on the creation of this music video. We became big fans of Patty after seeing their video work ‘Painted Dreams,’ which poetically connected soap operas with professional sports, gender, memory, and consumerism. Many important personal objects are featured in the video, anchoring our own realities within the skewed world of the video, imagining alternate realities where we are simultaneously gods and pawns.”
Home Body have also announce a US tour in support of Spirtius which kicks off this Friday. The tour will include performances in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Chapel Hill, Chicago as well as performances as SXSW and Savannah Stopover. All upcoming shows are listed below.
