Rising singer/songwriter hailing from the UK, Stealth, has teamed up with renowned funk and soul band The Dap-Kings on his new single “Black Heart.” The track uses a range of blues-led melodies and softly mesmeric strings in unison with the Dap-Kings, who previously collaborated with Mark Ronson and was the backing band for the late Amy Winehouse on her Back to Black North American tour.
“Black Heart” follows his Chorus EP release from last Fall (which included smash hit “Gotta Stop Loving You”) and drops just ahead of his official performances at SXSW. US fans heading to the festival can catch him on March 14 at Parker Jazz Club.
Stealth adds: “‘Black Heart’ is all about noticing the little things a person does before they break up with you. They are saying one thing but their black heart says another. Had the pleasure recording this with the Dap Kings over in NYC and it was a dream come true. Obviously heard them on Back to Black and I’ve been a huge fan of Charles Bradley and Sharon Jones who they also recorded and played with. To have the opportunity to meet and record with these living legends was unbelievable.”
Stealth has made quite a splash since signing with Ultra Music last year. Acclaimed as their first blues-soul-pop act, Stealth is in notable company with labelmates Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, Era Istrefi, Kygo, Sofi Tukker, and Steve Aoki to name a few. His first release since announcing his signing and video for “Gotta Stop Loving You” directed by Ryan Saradjola at WMA amassed over 1.5 million views on YouTube alone while “Truth Is” landed on the official FIFA 19 soundtrack alongside Barns Courtney, Billie Eilish, Broods, Childish Gambino, Death Cab For Cutie, Gorillaz, Logic, and many more. Both tracks can be found on his Chorus EP, which features production from Michael Angelo (Sam Smith) and Matty Benbrook (Paolo Nutini/Jack Savoretti). Billboard went on to praise the EP, calling it “Equally revealing and liberating” and “an eclectic assortment of rock, blues and indie-infused sounds that mirrors the singer’s moody lyrics and powerful vocal delivery.”
Stealth owes much of his success to his hit single “Judgement Day” which was featured on an episode of US TV series Suits, resulting in a phenomenal reaction on both sides of the Atlantic. The track has racked up over 10 million streams on Spotify and YouTube combined and continues to grow every day. Additionally, “Judgement Day” charted globally in 12 countries on Shazam who described it as “This year’s ‘Take Me To Church.'” The Intro EP which included “Judgement Day” rocketed to no. 2 in the UK iTunes singer/songwriter chart and no. 3 in the US. His follow up EP Verse featured the powerful song “Real Life” which was used on NBC’s The Catch and E’s The Royals and How Much Further (the soundtrack to the new Kia Stinger TV commercial throughout Europe).
Hailing from Birmingham, UK singer/songwriter Stealth crafts highly intimate and powerful blues-infused music that reveals the depths of his soul. His strong raspy voice echoes the influence of his idols Howlin’ Wolf and Etta James. Stealth has also been carving a distinct mark on the live scene. He sold out his first ever London headline show at Servant Jazz Quarters in November 2017, and has played in support of Seinabo Sey, Jamie Woon, Zella Day, Tiggs Da Author, Vaults, Kaleo and more. Stealths music has been championed by BBC stations Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music and BBC Introducing. Not to mention that Stealth has been nominated for 3 Unsigned Music Awards prior to his signing to Ultra Music.
