GRAMMY® Award-nominated songwriter and rapper Raja Kumari has released her new EP, BLOODLINE [Epic Records] today. The five-track project is available at all DSPs HERE! Listen to it now below.
About the EP, Kumari explains, “BLOODLINE asks the question, “Who are you?” It’s not just about your family line or your heritage. WHO ARE YOU? What runs through your veins and what are you willing to fight for? This collection of songs was inspired my time in India. I found strength in the Motherland, and these battle anthems are my story, my bloodline.”
BLOODLINE boasts the acclaimed single “SHOOK,” produce by Sean Garrett. TIME Magazine commending it as a song that “drips with blustering self-assuredness,” and its Gil Green (Drake, Kanye West)-directed music video has already amassed 3 million views. Check out the video HERE. Last week, Kumari shared “KARMA” from the EP, which Idolator says finds the artist “coming into her own.” Other highlights include the Hindu-flavored island swooning of “ROBIN HOOD” and dark soul duet “BORN HUSTLA” [feat. Janine The Machine]. Along with Sean Garrett, the EP also includes production work from Danja. Check out the full tracklisting below.
Last week, the budding star unleashed the first episode of her very own Apple Music Beats 1 show, The New India, while giving an early play of her song “KARMA.” With new episodes on the horizon, Kumari spotlights some of India’s brightest new talents. The first episode included interviews with rappers Nucleya & Raftaar to discuss the Indian Hip-Hop scene, and DIVINE about the cultural impact of the acclaimed Bollywood film “Gully Boy,” which was just released and co-stars Kumari herself.
