After covering H.E.R.’s “Could’ve Been” at the top of the year and collaborating with Anderson .Paak on Oxnard last year, BJ The Chicago Kid is back with another one. This time BJ takes on Ella Mai‘s “Close“, providing fans with a heartfelt, yet seductive male point of view.

When asked about why he chose to cover “Close”, BJTCK said, “I think it’s something really special about songs that can speak in a new, but nostalgic way. This song did just that for me, so I felt compelled to offer the male perspective. S/O to Ella Mai for the dope job and inspiration.”

Since the release of his 2016 3x Grammy-nominated debut album, In My Mind, BJ has released The Opening Ceremony, a three song EP and short film. He has also collaborated with the likes of Travis Scott, Solange, ASAP M.O.B., Anderson .Paak, Common & the late Marvin Gaye.
