Today, Brooklyn pop-punk band THICK (Nikki Sisti guitar/vocals, Kate Black bass/vocals, Shari Page drums/vocals) have announced that they have signed to Epitaph Records and have dropped 3 new songs available to listen to now at Spotify.
Additionally, THICK share a video for the song “Green Eyes” a dreamy track with overlapping vocals that telegraph the strange frustration of a partner projecting their emotional baggage onto you. Watch the video now below.
Born from the DIY/all-ages scene of New York with their live show typically spawning a mosh pit described by Stereogum as “more like an aggressive hug,” the Brooklyn-based trio bring an unchecked intimacy to every song while building deep and unshakable solidarity with the audience. THICK point out that connecting with other non-cis-het-male musicians has been one of the most rewarding aspects of starting out in the DIY scene. And in making their shows as inclusive as possible, “What’s incredible to see is how a lot of different people relate to our music,” says Page. The band partly aims to pass their own self-styled brand of positivity onto the crowd.
“There’s always a hint of hopefulness in our music—like, whatever happens, we’ll push through it and it’s all gonna be okay,” says Sisti. Black adds: “Even if the world is caving in, you’ve gotta just take it day by day. It’s good to be angry, but just remember to keep your head up and keep your friends close.”
Tonight to celebrate the announcement, THICK will play at The Glove in Brooklyn, NY. Additionally, THICK will play April 12 on Philly and April 19 in Toronto.
