Oakland, CA rock quartet SWMRS have released a music video for “Lose Lose Lose”, the current single off their new album Berkeley’s On Fire. The video, which was directed by Ambar Navarro, can be seen now below. SWMRS have also announced they will perform “Lose Lose Lose” live on ESPN on August 1, 2019 from The X Games in Minneapolis, MN.
“I always wanted to know what it would feel like to crowd surf if the average age of the crowd was 71 instead of 17,” shared SWMRS co-frontman Cole Becker. “Ambar and I talked a lot about this video as a way of inverting the formula of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’. Being a young person in 2019 feels a lot more like being in an inhospitable bingo club than being in the hyper idealized vision of a punk show. You have all this energy and vision and passion to contribute to the world, and you’re constantly met with this sludgy rejection as if you’re intruding on someone else’s party. “
“Lose Lose Lose” is the latest single off SWMRS’ critically acclaimed sophomore album Berkeley’s On Fire, which was released on February 15, 2019 on Fueled By Ramen. The album, which debuted in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart, is available now HERE. Lead single “April In Houston” was the #1 most added song at Alternative Radio week of release and rose to #27 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart. SWMRS spoke at length about the album’s timely lyrical content in recent interviews with Rolling Stone, Alternative Press and Kerrang, who honored the band with their first ever cover story, and first Kerrang Award for 2019’s Best International Breakthrough Act.
SWMRS celebrated the release of the album with the European and North American legs of their Berkeley’s On Fire World Tour, which kicked off in February and wrapped in May with the band’s largest sold-out headline show to date at Los Angeles, CA’s Belasco Theater. SWMRS donated over $20,000 from ticket sales to organizations working on the frontlines of climate, racial, economic, and gender justice issues through their SWMRS Fund.
SWMRS are currently on the road in Europe and the United Kingdom, where they just wrapped dates supporting Muse and Weezer, and appeared at numerous festivals. Later this week, the band will support Bring Me The Horizon on stadium dates in Moscow and Kiev. Next month, SWMRS will appear at the X Games in Minneapolis, MN, before returning to the UK for Reading and Leeds Festivals.
SWMRS just announced their fifth UNCOOL Festival. The two-night, two-city, UNCOOL Fest 5 will kick off at Los Angeles, CA’s Hollywood Palladium on October 25, 2019, and culminate in a hometown show at Berkeley, CA’s UC Theatre on October 26, 2019.
